Without China's progress, developing countries' number of hungry people decreased 7% since 1990 as of 2014

February 8, 2015

Developing countries POU: 994.1 - 790.7 = 203.4 [number of undernourished people in 1990 minus number of undernourished people in 2014]

China's POU: 288.9 - 150.8 = 138.1 [number of undernourished people in 1990 in China minus number of undernourished people in 2014]

203.4 - 138.1 = 65.3 [Reduction in developing countries minus reduction in China]

(65.3/994.1) x 100 = 6.56% [reduction of undernourished people without China divided by the total number of undernourished people in developing countries in 1990]
