Until 1985 developing countries ran a trade balance surplus more than $10B, the next 2 decades had a deficit of $30B

Until 1985, developing countries’ agricultural trade balance exhibited a net surplus of more than $10 billion a year. In the following two decades, this surplus turned into a large deficit amounting to almost $30 billion in 2005.
